Meeting The Needs of Government, Business, and Industry
To have value in preparing individuals for careers in information technology, academic programs must reflect
the varied and dynamic factors affecting government, commerce, and industry today, and such programs must be made
accessible to individuals with demanding time commitments work and family life.
To meet this demand, the CIS Department has partnered with individuals in business, industry, and government and with
its students to frequently evaluate existing academic programs, make changes where required, and to develop new academic
programs to meet the latest developments in the field of information technology.
The result has been the creation of courses, certificates, and degrees in areas such as Computer Security, Computer Forensics,
Cyber Defense, emerging Computer Networking technologies, Computer Graphics, and Operating Systems that are taught by a
combination of full time faculty and experts from industry.
Courses are scheduled during the daytime and evening hours to maximize the opportunity of individuals to attend classes,
and the College has devoted resources to developing customized workforce training opportunities for employers.
Additionally, classes are extremely affordable and are taught in state-of-the-art computer labs that are designed to emulate
real-world production computing environments.
