This format is for the dental assistant with two or more years of experience. The applicant also must be a current CDA, meaning that they've passed all three portions of the DANB Examination. Program entry and completion may vary according to the individual student.

  • Applicants passing the DANB Examination will be granted non-traditional credit for the appropriate courses.

  • All courses are taken online.

  • The student must enroll in DEN 204 and DEN 230. A graduate of an accredited program only needs to take DEN 204.

  • The student must attend a mandatory two-day on-campus workshop.

PROGRAM ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
  • All applicants are required to successfully complete ACS 1035 Introduction to Online Learning. ACS 1035 requires an incoming minimum cumulative 2.3 GPA.

    • A link to online registration for this course appears under Want to Apply?. Although students are given two weeks to complete this course, it is often completed in as little as 15 hours. The course is not subject to standard tuition rates, and the cost is minimal. WCC considers it an important step to help ensure success in completing your online coursework.

  • As part of skill validation prior to clinical placement, all students must demonstrate a proficiency in the English language.

  • Applicants must undergo a criminal background check.

  • Overall cumulative high school GPA or college GPA must be a minimum of 2.3.

  • Applicants must successfully pass all three portions of the Dental Assisting National Board(DANB) CDA examination.

  • Applicants must be employed in a dental office. The dentist/mentor will need to validate skills in the office and sign off on an agreement form.

CONTINUING ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Students must remain employed as a dental assistant, under a licensed supervising dentist, to remain in the program.

1. Fill out the online Admissions Application.

2. Register and complete ACS 1035 Introduction to Online Learning.
  • Current WCC students or students newly transferring to WCC must have a 2.3 GPA to register for Introduction to Online Learning.
3. Download the Pathway II program application packet from the Health Care page. Complete and submit the forms. Directions for submitting the forms can be found on the document itself. You will need Acrobat Reader to view and print PDF forms. If you do not already have Adobe Acrobat Reader, you can download it for free from Adobe.

DANB APPLICATION

To view DANB examination rules, sites for the examination, and download an application visit the DANB website. From the menu choose "Examinations"; you will be able to download your application. To expedite the application, you may fax the DANB application, along with the appropriate fee and required documentation to the fax number listed on the DANB Website. DO NOT SUBMIT THE DANB EXAM APPLICATION TO WCC. If you have questions, call the phone number listed on the DANB website.

It is suggested that you take the computerized format for this exam. The written format will delay your enrollment into the WCC Dental Assisting Program.
