Events & Media Production
Campus Events and Media Production provides audiovisual, projection, videotaping, and lighting support for both College and community events on campus. Additionally, we copy and convert between media formats (such as transferring a videotape to DVD) within the constraints of applicable copyright laws.
Media Services produces the following types of video projects:
- Live-event videos (e.g.: performances, concerts, seminars, panel discussions, guest speakers, etc)
- Informational content for staff use (e.g.: staff orientations, departmental training, etc)
Media Services does not produce instructional video content for academic courses.
To ensure that your event will be successful, Media Services guidelines require that you request an A/V Technician(s) and A/V Equipment from WCC Conference Services at least two weeks before your event. This is especially true for technically complicated events during peak times of the year (April through May, and November through December).
Our flagship venue, Towsley Auditorium in the Morris Lawrence Building, is equipped with sophisticated audio, lighting, projection and video systems that can enhance any conference, performance or lecture. Our experienced technicians will handle the electronics so that you can focus on your message and your audience. Download complete technical information about Towsley Auditorium (PDF).
Other popular venues on campus include the seminar rooms of the Morris Lawrence Building and the College Theater located in LA 175. Accordingly, we have installed audio and video/data systems in these spaces that can help you sound and look your best to audiences of 40 to 400. We also have portable equipment that can be wheeled to almost any campus location so that your audience can hear every word and enjoy videos and PowerPoint presentations that enrich your event.
Are you ready to edit your own audiovisual project? Faculty and staff can reserve our edit suite in GM 242 featuring up-to-date hardware and software. Knowledgeable technicians are next door to help get you started on your way to creating finished DVD's and CD's from raw source material.

How to get started:
Call Warren Nelson at 734-477-8558 or email at to find out how we can help you create media products and support live events on campus.
Note:
As of November 8, 2010, Media Services does not support Blu-Ray DVD technology on a campus-wide basis at WCC. This is due to infrastructure and equipment concerns. The only exception to this policy is LA 175 (a.k.a. "the College Theater"), which has a Blu-Ray player and a High-Definition (HD) projector installed in the room. Media Services may offer limited support for Blu-Ray DVD technology in the coming years as infrastructure and equipment issues are addressed.
