It was a "Cajun" good time at the 29th Annual WCC Foundation "Down on the Bayou" Mardi Gras celebration held on Saturday, February 7, 2015, in the Morris Lawrence Building at Washtenaw Community College!

The welcome specialty cocktail "Full Moon Rising" started the blood flowing for the over 300 guests, who decked out in their finery, came to experience the food, spirits, music and mysteries of the Bayou, and that they did! The lavish and incredibly delicious displays of food for the appetizer, dinner buffet, and dessert tables were again over the top. While the toe tapping rhythms of John E Lawrence (WCC Musical Performance professor) accompanied by five WCC Music Performance alums-John Dulph, Emmanuel Fields, Gwyneth Hayes, Athena Johnson, and Pat Middlestat started the evening, and the Band L'USA, closed out the night, rocking the house with their music and vocals as the guests danced till the very end!

For 29 years, the WCC Foundation has offered Mardi Gras guests an opportunity to share in the fabulous food and merriment as they raise funds that benefit the students of Washtenaw Community College.

This year, our generous sponsors and guests raised over $111,000!

Special thanks to the event co-chairs Katherine (WCC Foundation Board Member) & Damian Farrell and Tom Lamb(WCC Foundation Board Member) & Michelle McClintock, the Mardi Gras committees, the WCC Foundation staff, and the WCC Culinary Arts & Hospitality department, along with celebrity guest chefs that prepared culinary delights and mentored the WCC students in the process:

And to our WCC Culinary department Chefs, Derek Anders Jr., Carol Calder Deinzer, Terri Herrera, Sharyl Politi and Chris Troiano and their lab assistants, the WCC hospitality Chef Alice Gannon Boss, the PTK WCC Honor Society student volunteers handling coat check, the bars, and cleanup, Dan Flannigan's mixologists from Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti at Eagle Crest for help with the bars and our specialty drink, and to all the WCC students and staff who worked so hard to make this Mardi Gras a "Cajun" good time.
