Pat, our lead programmer, works in his office which overlooks the Student Center courtyard.
Mike (left) and Traci work to get the light just right for a location shoot. Sometimes a shoot requires improvisation—like using a white tabletop as a bounce.
Live it. Word.
Sarah, one of our developers, is still working on choosing the final arrangement for her blik wall decals.
Traci, our lead designer, works on a page for the junior designer position that was posted earlier this month.
Sometimes it’s important to bring a certain amout of levity to the workplace.
Wasthenaw Community College Interaction Developer Posting
What’s new at Washtenaw Community College? Well, to start, we’re adding an Interaction Developer to our team.
We launched a realigned website in February 2009. We won an award. And then we realized to really do this thing right we needed to add a new team member to the mix—an interaction specialist.
Do you have what it takes to do the job? Ask yourself these questions.
- Am I known as a Javascript ninja? How about jQuery?
- Can I write impressive, valid XHTML & CSS code by hand?
- Have I crafted a keen eye toward developing user-centric interfaces? (You know, the kind people use and never see.)
- Have I clocked serious hours developing in all the major browsers and platforms?
- Do people raise their eyebrows at my love and devotion toward web standards, usability, and accessibility?
- Am I basically a walking RSS feed of information on emerging web tech?
- Can I translate geek to human?
- Given graphic assets, could I recreate this page? Could I improve it? How?
So now that you’re pumped, what’s next?
The Interaction Developer posting has closed and applications are no longer being accepted. WCC’s Human Resources department will contact all people who officially applied. Thanks for applying!—Web Services Team

- Great benefits including medical and dental (with minimal employee contribution), life, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.

- Next generation Intel iMacs with dual display and the latest and greatest in web dev software — updated regularly!
- Development for modern browsers aka no more struggling to write IE 6 hacks.
- Opportunities to attend advanced training and leading industry conferences and seminars. (We’ve had private training with web standards advocate Molly Holzschlag and we’ve been to OSCON and The AJAX Experience.)
Please note: The Interaction Developer position is a full-time, onsite position and is not available for telecommuting. In order to be considered for employment by Washtenaw Community College you must have existing permission to work in the United States (we don’t sponsor work visas) and be willing to relocate to Ann Arbor, MI. Web design firms need not apply and will not be considered. That means if you’re a company? Don’t email us!
