Special Needs Services
A variety of services are available for eligible students
(see Special Population Eligibility Requirements). These services include:
- Tutoring by peer and professional tutors is available to all enrolled
WCC students. Tutoring assists students in further understanding concepts presented by instructors.
- Information sessions for students with disabilities on using support services
- Academic accommodations for students with disabilities
- Academic advising and counseling
- Use of Assistive Technology
- Conversation Groups for students where English is a Second Language (ESL), arranged through Learning Support Services

Special Population Eligibility Requirements
Students may be self referred.
Students with Disabilities
Disabilities involve substantial limitations. They are distinct from
common conditions that do not substantially limit major life activities.
Disabilities may be visible or hidden and include:
- Deaf or hearing impairment
- Emotional impairment
- Orthopedic impairment
- Speech impairment
- Blind or visual impairment
- Traumatic Brain Injury
- ADD/ADHD
- Specific Learning Disability
Documentation of the disabling condition is required. Please see Documentation for
Academic Accommodations/LINK.
Limited English-Speaking Proficiency
- ESL (English as a Second Language) students
Economically Disadvantaged
Students who:
- Receive a PELL grant or comparable state program of need-based financial assistance
- A migrant and/or
- Referred by faculty or staff as requiring support services to succeed
