For Faculty & Staff

The Bailey Library provides many services to faculty and staff of WCC. See below for more information about these services.

Research Instruction Program

WCC Librarians work to promote information literacy by providing research instruction in conjunction with specific coursework for any class offered by the college. Preferably, instruction takes place in the library, but under certain circumstances will be offered at the class site. Librarians provide instruction in English, reading, communications, nursing, health sciences, biology, psychology, economics, political science, career planning, graphic design, and art. All other disciplines are welcome to use this service.

  • STUDENTS
You may be enrolled in one or more classes that come to the Library for research instruction. The content of each of these classes will vary according to the subject being studied. If none of your classes are scheduled to come to the library for research instruction, ask a Librarian at the Reference Desk if you can sit in on an instruction session scheduled for another teacher's class.

  • INSTRUCTORS
For more information on research instruction sessions and how to schedule them, please select the link below. An Instructor's Guide to Library/Research Instruction

  • RESEARCH INSTRUCTION REQUEST FORM
Faculty can use the Research Instruction Request Form to request research instruction by a WCC librarian.

  • RESEARCH INSTRUCTION ASSESSMENT RUBRIC
Starting in Winter 2007, the librarians have decided to assess the English 111 library research instruction classes using a Rubric. As this project evolves, additional research instruction subject areas will be assessed. A complete copy of the English 111 Assessment Rubric is available.

Blackboard Search Box Request Form
Faculty can use the Blackboard Search Box Request Form to create a search box on your Blackboard course site to cross-search selected library research databases.

Library Liaisons to Academic Departments
The Library encourages faculty to assist and/or make recommendations for new library materials. See the Library Liaisons to Academic Departments for a list of librarians and contact information for your discipline.
