Bureau of Economic Analysis
Coming from the U.S. Department of Commerce, this Web site has all manner of economic data for the U.S. nationally, internationally, by region and industry.


Bureau of Justice Statistics
The Bureau of Justice Statistics is provided by the U.S. Department of Justice and Office of Justice Programs. The site provides statistics about crime and victims, criminal offenders, and special topics such as drugs, homicide trends, firearms, reentry trends, international statitics. The Justice System provides statistics on law enforcement, courts and sentencing, corrections, prosecution, federal justice system, expenditure and employment, and criminal record systems. In addition, you will find links to Sourcebook of Criminal Justice Statistics, FBI's Uniform Crime Reports, Juvenile justice statistics, FedStats, and Social Statistics Briefing Room.

Bureau of Labor Statistics
The BLS Web site from the U.S. Department of Labor, provides a wealth of statistical information on business and labor including financials, demographics, employment and unemployment, industries, inflation and consumer spending, international data, safety and health, wages, earnings and benefits and much, much more.


Digest of Education Statistics
Created by the National Center for Education Statistics, this database compiles statistical information covering pre-kindergartens through graduate schools in the U.S.


Faststats A to Z
Developed by the National Center for Health Statistics, Faststats A to Z provides a wealth of information on state and territorial data on subjects about asthma, chickenpox, emphysema, heart disease, leading causes of death, mammography/breast cancer, nursing home care, overweight prevalence, sinusitis (chronic), teen pregnancy, work-related injury, and much much more.


FedStats
This website makes statistical information from over 100 government agencies available to those seeking that information. It is searchable by topic, state, collections, agency, agencies by subject and more.


FRED (Federal Reserve Economic Data)
Good source for many economic series (GDP,CPI, interest rates, etc.). Also includes ALFRED (Archival FRED) for very long runs of data (50 years or more in some cases).


International Data Base
The International Data Base (IDB) is provided by the U.S. Census Bureau. IDB is a computerized data bank containing statistical tables of demographic, and socio-economic data for 227 countries and areas of the world.

NCDC- National Climatic Data Center
The NCDC is the world's largest archive of weather data. An excellent source for local climatological data, storm data, hourly precipitation data and much more. Make sure to view the Hot Topics pages. NCDC provides information about Groundhog Day Weather Watch and the famous folklore.


Population Reports
A central location within the U.S. Census Bureau website to find population reports in pdf format.


Statistical Abstract 2008
The Statistical Abstract of the United States is "the authoritative and comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States." Archived data goes back to 1878. Statistics on States, Cities and Countries are also available from this site.

Statistical Resources on the Web
The University of Michigan Library provides hundreds of statistical files from governmental sources arranged into 24 topics ranging from education, economics, health, finances, business and industry, to science and weather. Each topic is further divided into subtopics. For instance, sociology has subheadings ranging from adoption to marriage and to wealth. Sites are cross linked due to their interdisciplinary nature.

United Nations Data
Launched in November 2007, UN Data provides a single entry portal to statistics, tables, charts and maps from national and international agencies, searching over 14 databases containing 55 million records. This is an excellent starting place for statistics on energy, agriculture, the environment or country profiles.

U.S. Census
Designed by the U.S. Census Bureau, this site provides information on people, business, geography, special topics, newsroom information, and at the bureau topics. In addition, you can use the American FactFinder to find information on a specific city in the U.S. You have the option of searching by category or using the subject A to Z search feature.
