Beginning in 2002, this Web site "is a resource for photojournalists by photojournalists. It offers news, features, information and portfolios from real working photojournalists." The images contained on this site are keyword searchable.
Benson Ford Research Center at The Henry Ford
The Henry Ford, a large American History Museum in Dearborn, Michigan, has a collection of over one million historical photographs, as many more images of collection items and museum programs/exhibits created by contemporary photographers. Though not all of the rich collections of images are available online, there are a number of online exhibits and databases provided through the Research Center.
Creative Commons
The Creative Commons is a non-profit organization that "provides free tools that let authors, scientists, artists, and educators easily mark their creative work with the freedoms they want it to carry." The Creative Commons' goal is to define, "the spectrum of possibilities between full copyright - all rights reserved - and the public domain - no rights reserved." They create a spectrum of license that creators can attach to their work.
Flickr
Flickr is an innovative photo sharing site that integrates aspects of Web 2.0 (the social web), including tagging and tag clouds, geotagging, commenting on photos and messaging other users, formation of groups, blogging, etc. Thousands of photos are uploaded to the site every minute, and users can search and browse images as a guest.
Foto Search Image Library
Foto Search Image Library offers over one million images in its extensive online archive, including photography, clipart, illustrations, footage, and maps. It offers your students the opportunity to view world-class photography and art free of charge.
It is the digital, online equivalent of a conventional art museum. Browsing through the library is free, and there are no access charges, registration requirements, or usage limits, but this is a commercial website the goal of which is to sell the images therein. Still, viewing, e-mailing and printing images is available at no charge.

International Arts Resources from Artslynx
Designed and maintained by stage designer and professor, Richard Finkelstein, this site provides access to a multitude of websites on the arts. Artslynx is a rich resource on a variety of arts topics: sections include theatre, dance, music and much more. There is also a fairly extensive section of Employment Resources for jobs in the arts.
International Center for Photography
Founded by Cornell Capa in 1974 and located in New York City, the International Center of Photography (ICP), "is a world-class museum and school dedicated to exploring the possibilities of the photographic medium through dynamic exhibitions and educational programs." In addition to information on current exhibits and classes, the website contains a wealth of resources for those not in NYC.
Library of Congress Prints & Photographs Reading Room
Using this Web site you can access the catalog of the Library of Congress Print & Photography Collection. According to the description, "about 90% of the records are accompanied by one or more digital images."
The homepage provides information on the scope of the catalog and more.
National Geographic
Provides free photos and wallpapers as well as tips and screensavers.
New York Institute of
Photography
Founded in 1910, New York Institute of Photography is the world's oldest and largest photography school,
with a current home-study enrollment of over 20,000 in 128 countries. This site contains reference resources
on photography, technical tips, and course catalog.
New York Public Library Digital Gallery
Draw from a wide the vast collections of the research libraries of the New York Public Library, this Web site provides access to over 275,000 digital images including historical maps, posters, rare prints, photographs and more. Browsing by names, subjects and libraries as well as keyword searching is available.

PictureAustralia
Begun as a collaboration in 1998, and hosted by the National Library of Australia, PictureAustralia brings together images from cultural agencies all over Australia. The program has also formed a PictureAustralia group through Flickr that allows individuals and organizations all over the world to join and contribute their images of Australia to the database.

The American Museum of Photography
Web page for the American Museum of Photography offers a virtual exhibition of specimens illustrating the
history of photography in the United States. The pieces comprising the various exhibitions are drawn from
the private collection of Wm. B. Becker. Site is well-organized and provides the user with a history of
photographic techniques and styles.
