Jim Cogswell: Meanwhile
Colorful and exciting, Cogswell's work originates in the figure; by the time the piece is completed the figure has merged into an abstract design.

Misfold
January 15 - February 28
The second artist in Gallery One's series on installation art, Matthew Shlian is a paper engineer who employs biomimicry to create interactive sculpture based on molecular forms such as virus structures. Shlian says "My work does not begin with hypothesis: it begins by asking questions about how form can generate movement, size can relate to and affect the body, and what happens when these forms, derived from biomimicry of virus structures, become life-size and inhale the surrounding space."
