Jim Cogswell: Meanwhile
Colorful and exciting, Cogswell's work originates in the figure; by the time the piece is completed the figure has merged into an abstract design.

Wonder Tales
April 2 - May 30, 2003
Wonder Tales is the second in a two part series that explores diverse tools of artistic expression. Artists Lisa Olson and Stephanie Rowden display their work in both visual and audio art. Using combinations of text, sounds, image, and object, the artists have created works that draw their inspiration from the strange and intimate poetry of the folktale.
Rowden is an installation artist with a special interest in sound. The multi-award winning artist is currently a Roman Witt Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan's School of Art and Design.

Olson received her M.F.A. in Mixed Media from the University of Michigan and since moving to Southern California has focused her artistic talents on book arts. Her works have been shown all over the country and are being collected by several libraries.
"This exhibit demonstrates how text and visual and audio values inform each other," said Anne Rubin, director of Gallery One. "This work is gorgeous and thought provoking."
