How to develop web pages:
You may develop web pages using a variety of software applications, including
Netscape Composer, Microsoft Publisher, notepad (for the experienced), etc.
For example, in Netscape Composer:
Step 1. Open a New File.
Go to the File menu, then New, and then select Blank Page.
Alternatively, go to the Communicator Menu and select Composer.
Alternatively, go to the File menu and open an existing file with Composer.
Step 2. Save Your File to Your Local Hard Drive.
Go to the File Menu and Select Save As.
Type in a name for your file, include an htm or html extension, browse to a destination, and save. Save often as you work.
Step 3. Create Your Content.
Use the tools in Composer to design your web page(s).
How to ftp your web pages to your site:
1. If using an ftp application, follow the instructions that came with the application to send
files to ftp://orchard.wccnet.edu/home/your_netID/public_html/.
2. If using Internet Explorer, type ftp://orchard.wccnet.edu/ in the address bar, then type your
netID and password in the dialog box that appears. Alternatively, you may also type
ftp://your_netID@orchard.wccnet.edu in the address bar. You may now drag and drop or
otherwise copy your web files to the server, placing them in the public_html folder.
3. If using Netscape, Open your web page in Composer. Click on the Publish button in the File menu.
