The Edge » Welcome New Staff & Coaches!
Story by Cynthia Cox
Club Sports has undergone some major personnel changes in 2007. Long-term office manager Brandie Fitzsimmons left to pursue her teaching career when she accepted a second-grade position at Howell Schools. She'll be missed both in the office and on the softball field. Congratulations, Brandie!
Tiffany Stoddard, WCC freshman, has taken over the office duties as of August. She has very quickly learned about the various sports clubs and come up to par on answering the myriad questions that come through the door or over the phone. She processes the paperwork so students have fields to play on and coaches to guide them.
Sandy Bushey has also joined the office as the Club Sports Technical Assistant. She is responsible for publishing this newsletter you're reading. She also takes care of many of the behind-the-scenes activities such as gathering and processing information to keep the sports clubs running smoothly.
In the spring, star pitcher Jason Stafne joined the baseball coaching staff as the pitching specialist. Jason is a player-coach, splitting his time between the mound and first base when he's on the field. As coach, he guides and encourages the young pitchers both on and off the field. He created a cadre of five good pitchers (plus himself, of course) for the fall season. This gave WCC much greater depth than any other team in the league.
In the fall, Fred Pieske joined the baseball staff as the base coach. His positive attitude and wealth of experience (coaching both baseball and soccer) has been a great addition to the team.
