The Edge » Athletic Fields to be Restored
On the north side of main campus, the Health & Fitness center sits on top of what was once the home of a WCC Club Sport baseball/softball diamond, soccer field, sand volleyball pit, batting cage and storage building. Since the fields have been gone, the program has had to rent facilities, sending our teams all over the city for practices and games.
Today we are excited to spread the news that $342,000 has been budgeted to restore the North Athletic Fields (which will be adjacent to the H&FC). The project, which includes plans for baseball and volleyball fields, is to begin this Summer and be completed by Fall. This is just the first phase of a more extravagant $1.6 million plan that includes a separate softball field, tennis courts, bleachers, restrooms and a storage facility.
The Club Sports program is happy that our softball, baseball, soccer and sand volleyball teams will have a place to practice and play games at home soon.
A rainbow stretches across the old North Athletic Fields.
