Job Fairs

Each year Employment Services hosts two Job Fairs - one in the Fall and one in the Spring - including many local employers who are actively seeking qualified applicants. These events are free and open to the community as well as WCC students and alumni.

The job fairs to be conducted during the 2009–2010 academic year will be as follows: The Fall Job Fair will be held on October 28, 2009, and will focus on the career field of Culinary Arts/Hospitality Management. Next year's Spring Job Fair and Non-Profit Showcase will take place on Thursday, March 25, 2010. Approximately fifty employers, from all fields of work, are expected to attend as well as twenty local non-profit agencies who will be on hand to discuss the services and resources available through their organizations. Both fairs will be held in the Morris Lawrence Building.

Interested in participating in one of WCC's Job Fairs? Contact the Employment Services Office by phone at 734-677-5155, fax at 734-677-5444 or email at .

Tips for Professional Dress for Job Fairs and Interviews

It is strongly recommended that you dress professionally for any Job Fair that you attend.

Note: A conservative approach is recommended. Looking fashionable is important, but appearing businesslike is even more important. Here are some standard guidelines for Job Fair attire:

Women
  • Business suit/pantsuit in solid color or subtle pattern, conservative length
  • Polished, closed-toe shoes, basic dark pumps with medium or low heels
  • Nails clear or light color (if polished), clean and not chipped
  • Clutch or small shoulder bag; choose between an attaché case or handbag (not both)
  • Always wear hosiery and keep color neutral
  • Makeup should be minimal and understated
Men
  • Navy, black, charcoal gray or pin-stripe suit
  • Polished shoes; dress oxfords, black or cordovan (belt should be same color)
  • Clean nails
  • Conservative tie
  • Solid white shirt, pressed
  • Avoid flashy cuff links, rings or neck chains; no earrings
  • Over-the-calf dark socks
Both
  • Freshly showered
  • Clean clothes
  • No chewing gum
  • One ring per hand with exception of the wedding set
  • Simple and basic jewelry (remove any facial jewelry)
  • Light fragrances, if any
