Apprentice Credit & UA STAR Exam
As of August 2000 current UA apprentices who complete their apprenticeship can earn
up to 32 college credits for their experience with WCC. UA members can use this credit
to earn an Associate Degree in Construction Supervision, Industrial Training, or
Journeyperson General Studies from WCC. Apprentices are registered for this credit through
their Local Training Coordinator. Locals who are interested in registering their apprentices
with Washtenaw Community College should
contact Mike Griffith.
Apprentices will need to be registered through the system in order to receive credit.
UA apprentices should check with their local training coordinator to see if they are registered
UA members who achieved journey status prior to August 2000 will need to pass the UA STAR exam
in order to receive the 32 credits for their apprenticeship experience.
Math and Science Credit
Three credits of math and three credits of science (6 total) are awarded within the 32 credits
for completion of apprenticeship or the UA STAR exam.

NITC proctors this exam. Exam results are sent to Washtenaw Community College on a monthly
basis for credit posting.
