Sustainable Technologies in HVACR

This program is for UA HVACR Service Technician members who wish to extend their training and prepare for more advanced technical positions. Courses in this program will cover topics such as building automation systems, sustainable technologies (green), HVACR systems, technical and workplace writing, algebra, customer relations, and marketing.

Classes

WCC's College on Demand offers these classes online, which lets you:
  • Watch and hear important concepts explained through video lectures.
  • Manage time by working on the class when it fits your schedule.
  • Participate in discussion boards, submit assignments, and take tests - all without coming to our Ann Arbor campus.
  • Learn from instructors who are accomplished professionals in their fields.
  • Register and pay online.
  • Order the materials for the classes online and have them shipped directly to your home from our College on Demand Virtual Bookstore.

Certificates and Degrees

Apprentices and journeypersons in the United Association who take the Sustainable Technologies in HVACR program classes can earn an Associate degree.

If you pursue an Associate in Applied Science degree, you will receive non-traditional credit for your apprenticeship or UA Star. Here are the steps to earning your degree:
  1. Take the Introduction to Online Learning class.

    • This non-credit, self-paced class is designed to enable you to participate in Web-based instruction. The class explains how to use a class management system, including logging in, navigating, communicating, and taking online tests. Basic computer literacy topics also will be covered.
    • Successful participation in the class fulfills the WCC computer literacy requirement.
    • You must complete this class within two weeks of registering.
    • Registration Request for the Introduction to Online Learning class.

  2. Take the five classes in the Sustainable Technologies in HVACR program.

    • You can register for the Sustainable Technologies in HVACR classes via MyWCC during the registration period shown on the Registration website.

  3. Take a limited number of General Education classes online.
